The ever so young & ever so wise – Amer fort of Jaipur

Situated at a height & spread across an area of 4 kms., Amer keeps a watch on Jaipur, from 11 kms. away. Amer probably never goes to sleep, partly because it stands guard over Jaipur, but mostly because it’s always thinking of the good times, remembering it & taking pride in it.

Decades of royal rule, proud legacy and envious heritage has given Amer a bag full of rich experiences & stories, the traces of which can be seen inside its premises as you enter via Suraj Pol.

The open courtyard, majestic Ganesh Pol with exquisite frescoes & embellished Deewan-e-khaas together create a sight that can’t be absorbed in one or two looks. Hours can go by and you still won’t feel you have seen it all.

The decorated gates, embellished doors and walls, latticed windows, and royal paraphernalia give the fort the kind of look that it was constructed just a few decades back. It is all, however, cemented with more than a century of attacks to claim Amer, generations of love that it’s received & the evolution of art & music within its premises.

You can hear it all during the light and sound show in the evening when Amer looks like it’s just come of age while they give you an event-by-event account of how Amer grew and matured over the last century & took its place as an elder brother of Jaipur.
