In the words of Mattie Stepanek, “Sunset is still my favorite color, and rainbow is second.”
Sunsets are gorgeous. And people who watch sun sets are gorgeous too. India is home to many such incredible places that take you to places far, far away – all with your eyes open.
I, personally, love Sun sets. I love to watch and witness how the clear Sun rays slowly hide behind the clouds before your eyes. At one moment, the sky is glittering and shimmering with colors that are brighter than life, and the next moment – there’s nothing but shades of grey and black engulfing all space. It’s spiritual at some levels and romantic at all.
I have been fortunate enough to watch some of these beautiful Sun sets in India. And here is a list of top five that I recommend. Have you watched them?
1. Sun set by Kovalam beach, Kerala
Kovalam beach is by far one of the most gorgeous beaches that I have seen. Casual Fishing, Coconut trees & Arabian Sea – that’s Kovalam for you – Pristine, Serene & Pure.
Watch the Sun set by the lighthouse beach & you would treasure this memory forever!
2. Sunset Point, Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu
Kanyakumari – where the Bay of Bengal from the left, merges with the Indian Ocean, joined by the Arabian Sea from the right.
One of the top most attractions in Kanyakumari is watching the Sun set from the Sun set point. A sight that will leave you speechless and spellbound. No picture & no words can describe the beauty that you see there, in-person.
3. Behind the Golden Sand, Beyond the Infinity – at Jaisalmer, Rajasthan
Watching the Sun sets by the beaches is my favorite. However, no list can be complete without including this one – Sun sets by the Sands.
Watch the Sunset in the royal style, like the royals do – let the Sun hide beyond the golden sand of Jaisalmer while you take a Camel Safari in the infinite Sam sand dunes of Jaisalmer.
4. Amidst Cocktails, Shacks and Massages – at Betalbatim Beach, Goa
Come Goa, and all you can think of is – Beaches. All you can eat is – Sea food. All you can drink is – beer and cocktails. And all you can do is – take dips in the Arabian Sea.
While North Goa is too commercialized for spending quiet, alone time; South Goa is still preserved. A few beaches in South Goa can give you peace and happiness beyond measures. If you are looking for spectacular pictures, witnessing a rainbow Sunset or spending quality time with self, visit Beatalbatim beach in South Goa.
Watching a Sun set here is therapeutic in all ways.
5. All Above the Clouds, In the Sky!
I have saved it for the last, but this one is a rare. When the odds are in your favor or you have done precise calculation, you get to watch the Sun set above the clouds. The scene hasn’t been matched by any movie yet.
An 8*4 (inch) window actually opens the gates to a heavenly, ethereal picture that you would want to see, forever.
